Modern, minimalist, simple, stylish – a practical, functional villa featuring large windows on every façade. Externally, the villa looks as though it is floating, while interior spaces are flooded with natural light. The villa features a combination of large, triple glazed sliding doors and fixed window units from the Rationel AURAPLUS range, which combines all-timber frames with external aluminium cladding for extra durability. Triple glazing was important – says the owner – to ensure the windows are energy efficient, and also to minimise the risk of cold down draughts caused by such a large expanse of glass. The choice of a sliding door design was also deliberate. A sliding door is a great alternative to a traditional, hinged patio door – it brings in lots of light, and when opened completely allows the living room and terrace to become a single large space. There is also no need to find room externally to accommodate the door when open, making it the perfect solution for a balcony or terrace.
